Empathy in Practice: A heart-warming Act of Compassion by JSS Ayurveda College & Hospital Students
JSS Ayurveda College & Hospital takes great pride as the 4th-year BAMS students demonstrate exceptional compassion for humanity. A 40-year-old female patient diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer, which had metastasized to her lungs and liver was admitted to the hospital. The patient suffered severe pain and other cancer-related complications. We administered conservative treatments that alleviated her pain and improved her appetite.
The students, engaged in clinical activities at the hospital, discovered the patient’s dire financial circumstances and learned that her daughter is in her 1st year of BAMS studies at an Ayurvedic Medical college in Bangalore.
In a remarkable display of solidarity, the 4th-year students decided to cover the patient’s hospital expenses. They also pledged to support the mother’s future medical expenses and assist in covering the girl’s college fees and study materials.
The patient expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the students and the consultants for their kind gesture. She also bestowed her blessings upon the students, saying, ‘May Lord Dhanwantari bless you with a bright and prosperous future.
