The Department of Kayachikitsa, JSS Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru, had organized a one-day general health checkup camp, which included distribution of Ayurvedic medicines, on September 18, 2021, at the Haadli village, in Malavalli Taluk, Mandya District, in association with the Lions Club, Malavalli and Arunodaya Vidya Samsthe.
The health checkup camp was inaugurated by Mr. Bharatesh, President, Lions Club, Mr. Tammegoda, President, Arunodaya School, and Consultants of the JSS Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital Mysuru. Dr. Beena MD, Associate Professor & HOD, Dept. Kaychikitsa, JSS AMCH, Mysuru, delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Sowmya M.N., Associate Professor, Dept. of Swasthavritta, delivered an awareness talk on “Importance of maintaining health”.
The inaugural program was followed by registration and screening, and personal consultation of the public. About 245 people utilized the benefits of the camp. Most of the complaints were related to low back pain, joint pains, skin diseases, gastrointestinal problems, headache, dysmenorrhoea, menstrual irregularities, metabolic disorders, and neurological disorders.
The team of consultants included Dr. Beena MD, Associate Professor & HOD, Dept. of Kayachikitsa, Dr. P. Sudhakar Reddy, Professor & HOD, Dept. of Swasthavritta, Dr. Sowmya M.N., Associate Professor, Dept of Swasthavritta, Dr. Shalini S., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Swasthavritta, Dr. Nanda K.O., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Prasuti Tantra, Dr. Unnikrishnan P.M., Assistant Professor, Dept. of Kayachikitsa, and Dr. Shashibindu, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Agadatantra. The camp was supported by PG scholars, UG students, and hospital staff.
The patients and coordinators of the camp expressed their gratitude to the institution, doctors, and students for their service. The coordinators of the camp requested the organizers to conduct more such camps in the future.
